History The independent American descendent of the Church of England, the Episcopal Church is a member of the greater Anglican Communion. The Anglican Communion is a worldwide association of thirty national churches which all worship according to the Book of Common Prayer (as locally adapted) and which, like the Episcopal Church, look back to the Church of England for their foundation.
